Nice. The colors will even out somewhat over time. How much of the work was neander? Paul
One of these days, I need to take a little field trip to see your work in person...this is a wonderful piece, Prashun!

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...
That 'stain' was an issue when I started, but my parents liked it, so that's what matters.
The legs were shaped with an angle grinder about 50% and a spokeshave and rasp about 50%.
The top edges were chamfered with a block plane.
Prashun,
Very, very nice! Your Dad will be very appreciative and proud of your efforts. Very nice joinery!

So much to learn, so little time.....
Agreed this table is awsome, I love the color and what you did with the legs.
Very nice! I like tastefully done free edge stuff. I guess we have George Nakashima to thank for making this style repsectable.

Thanks! The legs and stretchers are all M&T. I've come to really understand the Maloof joint thru this project. There were challenges making the roundovers on some of the intersections. The dado/bridle chair joint is not only novel and strong, it appears to be the cleanest way to be able round joints over. This is something hard to explain unless you try to do it on a different type of joint.
Brett, ever since I read an interview with (I forget which) either George Nakashima's wife or daughter, I'm loathe to say anything is in the Nakashima "style". His selection of wood was sublime and so much deeper than what I'm able to do. So, yes, it is indeed Nakashima (and Maloof) INSPIRED, but I can't say with a straight face that it's in either of their styles.

Real, real nice job on the table Prashun. Fitting legs for a fine top....
I'm sure dad will be very proud of this piece.
This is fantastic! Those legs are very Maloof and very well done!
Excellent work Prashun. Love it.
Best Regards,
Gordon
Beautiful table, Prashun and wonderful craftsmanship. You certainly have a good handle on the sculpted/organic look. I also agree with you on the issue about it being "Nakashima." I see lots of slab tables that are definitley not in the Nakashima style, and lots of cabinets-on-stand that are not in the Krenov style.
FWIW, I think your table is in the Patel style and I've come to appreciate it when you display pics of your work.

Great work Prashun. I really like work you did with the structure. Very well sculpted.
Beautiful table and base joinery. I could see the Nakashima/Maloof influence all over this piece.
A beautiful table Prashun. I'm sure your Dad will love it.
I was sad because I had no shoes,
Then I saw a man who had no feet
