    Think this makes a difference?

While trying to figure out what the configuration of my impeller, motor shaft diameter, and housing clearances were, I stumbled across something that might have been hindering my DC's capacity to "perform". Waddayathink?

Hmmm, maybe removing that grille only moved your problem out of sight... we'll call it The Ostrich Shop, "We solve your problems, or we'll stick our heads in the sand."

Those shavings looked like ambrosia maple cut with the grain. I think they were from when we were sizing up the extra pieces on the miter saw or something, Dan.

Honestly, I don't know if that really affected my DC's performance or not. Maybe threw off the impeller's balance...? At least the shavings didn't completely clog the intake, which it would have done had I had the grill on the intake port of the DC.

No, wait! I seem to remember using the DC while TURNING! I was zuping up the piles of shavings that were all over my lathe. THAT would explain it...

My first thought was the lathe... look at how long those strips are. Those came from a bowl gouge...

Did you "misplace" your lunch the other day? Was it linguine and clams? I think you found it.

One of your chairs missing it's hickory bark seat Mike? No doubt removing all that debris from your impeller will improve things considerably!

I found a paper tower on my impeller. Throws off the balancing just a little.

Thank goodness it wasn't one of those steel towers. THAT will mess up an impeller quite a bit.

I think it's quite obvious, you have a very large gap between the impeller and the flange. Maybe try bolting those 2 pieces together and give it a try. Its not rocket science.

Ah the joys of machines that suck the spoil through the impeller I'm thinkin' clearing that out ought to show some difference, eh?
