    Something a Little Different

The clock pictured below is the result of a collaborative effort between our shop and artist/designer Chris Geiger (posted with his permission). My only contribution was the clock face. All other parts were cut with our CNC. Chris completed the assembly and finish work. I think it turned out pretty cool!

Chris will be pleased to know that you saw the Dali influence.

You can't tell from the photos but the drawer pulls are from the same "plaid" as the legs.

Thanks. A little over 7 feet tall. We're working on a scale tabletop or mantle size. The clock actually runs backward, counterclockwise technically I suppose.

This piece is so interesting. Love it! Any more pictures with a close up of the "plaid" legs? I'm curious how those were made up.

Love the Dali look and the fact it runs backwards.

    Great job!

Jimmy, I don't have a close up of the legs. The checkerboard was glued up from half inch squares. The sheet of checkerboard was then laminated to a substrate (I don't recall what Chris used for the substrate). Maybe these photos will give you a better view of the legs.

I love it. The proportions really do evoke Dali.

I really wanted her to have "arms", one perhaps holding a small tray for keys, etc. Chris didn't like the idea, so there you go. Originally she didn't have shoes but we had to add those for stability. That's when the idea evolved for stockinged legs and buttons (pulls) to match. This was a really fun project and Chris is great to work with. We just completed prototypes for wooden I pad and Ipad2 cases that will go to market within the next month.
