    HEAVY duty outdoor chairs

I made two chairs from 8/4 white oak this week.
They are both fully mortised and tenon with walnut wedges in the through tenons.
Red oak seat bottom and back slats.
    Two coats of marine varnish.
They weigh about as much as a lazy-boy recliner!

Great job on the chairs i like the design. Are you sure you want to keep them out side? They look like they belong in the waiting area of a five star steak house.I bet they are heavy thats alot of oak.

Don't see a lot of out door furniture up here that is made of white oak. Even less that have through tenons for joinery....
Looks like they are built like tanks. Nice work Dave.

Nice... I ca assure you the white oak will hold up well outside considering it is used for ship's beams and dock poles. The M & T eliminates any potential problem with glue "giving up" in weather also. Good job...

Great stance. Very stout and "planted" looking. They have style and appear solidly attached to the ground without appearing to grow out of it as some heavy furniture looks. I wouldn't have thought about combining the red and white oaks but, they accent each other well.
