Thread: Dust Collector:What to do w/dust???

Several people have mentioned animal bedding. If you have a horse - or access to horse manure - you have the perfect solution: The 'horse' adds the nitrogen needed for wood dust composting, so used animal bedding (or sawdust mixed with about equal volumns of fresh 'horse') will result in beeeeeuuuuutiful compost. However, in case you were not aware, NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER use FRESH, (non-composted) horse or chicken on a garden, etc: The high nitrogen content will burn out ANYTHING you put it on!!

I've used it for restoration work in the past when hand stripping finishes. When the layers of finish are all loosened I throw on a few handfuls and then with a gloved hand squeeze it together like a sponge and rub the surface adding dust and stripper until clean. I've seen people use it for removing excess paste woodfillers.
