What is a Good Price for a Used G1182Z??

I found a used Grizzly G1182G. They go for $455 new, and was wondering what you think is a fair price for one that "... has had very little use ( home shop ). " Includes a mobile base and dust hood, but I already have a mobile base that is not being used - AFAIAC that is not a factor.

    Thanks!

    Question What is a G1182Z?

    What is a G1182Z?

I am going to start bugging people whenever they mention a tool just by a part number. (That's right, I am taking on the duty of a new type of policeman. First we had picture police, now we have a "tool identification" policeman.)

Thanks, Frank. I was wondering the same thing...

The 1182 series was well-liked in the WOOD Magazine review awhile back.

Gee, this place is getting sort of like a prison, where all the jokes are known, so the numbers of them are just called out. (:

Frank, I was thinking the same thing earlier today, glad you said it, you've been around alot longer than I have. I couldn't even find a G1182G in the catolog. Later realized it was a G1182Z.

    Jim,
Good one. Maybe you have to be from Mo to appreciate it. My family is from SW MO, of which I still have fond memories.

Maybe the poster(s) figures someone who has that machine will know the model number...and therefore be more qualified to offer up a answer than someone(s) who doesn't know what it is.

Not limited to this type of question, but one of the things that bugs me is forty seven folks 'advising', when only four of them can actually speak to the issue with any actual experience to back it up.

    Still need an answer... please?

I appreciate and agree with the discussion that has come out of this thread about the abundant use of model numbers only - I too have been confused in several other threads, not knowing what a G0555 was (I now know it's a bandsaw), etc., but that's not why I started the thread. Just looking for a little guidance from some of the kind folks here who have bought used machinery. I just need to know what is a fair price for this jointer...

Is $200 too lowball? $300? What woud you pay for this jointer? Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi John,

If the machine works, and has all it's parts a good rule of thumb is to offer 1/2 of the price when it was new.
