    sliding 'barn' style doors

My shop is one side of a two stall garage, seperated with stud wall with an 8 ft opening in the middle. I would like to put a sliding door in that opening. Has anyone here used garage door rails to make a lighter weight version of a sliding barn door? (I have the rails, If I could use them it would save me some money not having to buy the barn door square tube rail and rollers).

I just like to say that the sliding barndoor rails are quite inexpensive. I bought mine at 'Tractor Supply.'

"quite inexpensive" is a relative term! Just thought if I could get by without spending the money I would. If it means spending money it probably won't get done. LOL

I think the question is how heavy is the door? So long as you provide adequate support I don't see why it wouldn't work. What kind hardware are you planning on using to hang the door?
Measure twice, cut three times, start over. Repeat as necessary.

This may not be what your are after, but it is a pretty slick system, for your application, or any indoor surface mount sliding door. http://jhusa.net/2610F.aspx
