This past weekend I finally had a chance to try the new smaller Rotex. I bought it to use in shaping wood and as a complement to the 150/3 Sander. I used it to shape a handle for my Japanese saws. It really seems perfect. There was no dust and withe 50 grit and the aggressive mode it shapes wonderfully. It fits nicely in my hand . It does tend to "walk" in the aggresive mode a little, but it is manageable. Once I had the general shape...I used a Nicolson #50 to dress it a little. Then I switched to the finer mode on the Rotex and went up to 100 grit. At that point I switched to the 150/3 Fine sander with 100 grit and it was a great transition. I moved up to to 150 and finally 220. Then I used the 3 M pads by hand. The pair really work well together. They are great sanders and seem to be really worth the price considering the flexibility . Just as it is a joy to use a fine hand plane , the Rotex 125 is a well designed tool that really performs.
