Corel keeps shutting off.. any ideas?

I keep trying to run a file out of Corel, and once I hit "Print" I end up back
on the desktop.. scratching my head and wondering where Corel went.

    Any ideas?

It's just a simple file.. circle vector with a bitmap inside it. I tried making
a new file (cut and paste) and the same thing happens. Rebooted, no joy.
I spent 2.5 hours on the file, so I'd hate to scrap the whole thing..

Yes, it is only this file (but has happened before)
If I delete the vector, the bitmap will print. If I delete the
bitmap, the vector will print. I had PhotoPaint re-create
the bitmap and it ran, but almost none of the image would
actually engrave. SOMETHING is engraving, but I don't recognize
it. BUt I ran it several times and it is consistent. Gremlins?
Vector is fine.. some odd lines engrave very lightly. Run the
file again and it puts down the same lines in the same place,
but at about 1/10 of the power I'd expect.

    Hi Chuck,

I also have had this problem a few times. Once the raster image outline (invisible) was over the circle line and that was the reason for shutting Corel off. After reducing the raster image totally inside the circle it worked just fine. Once I just made a new file of the "backup"-file and it worked again...

If you can find the reason for your problem I would love to hear what it was !

Chuck, if all else fails restart the program and hit F8 at the same time. This will default all the settings back and it may run fine again. I had issues with Corel Draw a few months back and my only solution was to put in the Corel CD and do a repair. You may need to try that as well. For me, after the repair, everything worked fine after that. Of course now I'm sure I just jinxed it for myself ...

Max.cdrThis is the file, although I've messed around with it many times.
I ended up deleting the vector and running the raster portion.
Then I undid that, deleted the raster and ran the vector. It
wouldn't run the file with both of them on the screen at the
    same time.

I ended up running the vector out of Corel and then the raster
out of Photoshop. But I'd like to figure out what happened..

Try power clipping the image then overlaying the vector lines. Just a guess.

I've completely redone the file, so I'm not behind or anything.. I just can't
figure out why this happens on occasion. It will suddenly shut down the program.
And clipping? power clipping? went right over my head, being a Corel neophyte still.

But i did get out some nice ornaments and mom is pretty excited.. even flipped
them and engraves both sides and got the registration right. woohoo! Of course,
I should have though about not using a photo with lettering .. they come out
    backwards, too..

    Quick course in power clip......

    Draw a square,
Import a raster image, now select it
On the top bar go to "Effects" move down to Power clip
On the flyout select place in container.
With the curser on screen click on the square you drew
Now the image is placed in the square!

If you select it again and right click you can extract or edit
    the raster image.

This is a VERY valuable tool!

You Tube has tons of great videos on Corel well worth your time!

Hmm .. sorta like Photoshop's Paste Into, except you can't move it once it is
    placed?

I know I should spend more time on tutorials.I'd probably use Corel more if
I understood it better. But most of what I do is photo, and by the time I
get to Corel, I'm under the gun..
