    Does anyone scan 3D objects?

    Hey, folks..

I looked through FOTC but didn't find what I was looking for and figured
that perhaps someone in here would know.

I'm looking to get some 3D (well .. 2.5D) files from pieces that i have.
If I were just using the laser, I could probably scan them on a flatbed
and clean them up in Photoshop. But it doesn't really give you a good file,
just something that 'kinda-sorta' looks like it has the detail.

I bought a Carvewright and was planning on getting the scanning
probe for that, but quickly learned that the machine wasn't going
to do what I bought it for, so I don't have it. And I don't think the
scanning probe and software were sensitive enough for this anyway.

I have a few pieces to start.. two letter openers and some prototype
plaster carvings (2-3") raised relief. Think of a cameo and you've got
    the idea.

Does anyone build files from pieces like this? I'd need it to run on a
CNC router, and be able to resize it. (and a photo for the laser) I
run Mach3, Corel and I have a couple of free CAD programs that
make my stomach queasy when I try to learn them, but I'll have to.

Drop me a PM if interested..
    Thanks

    Thanks, Ed..
I might have to wait on this or find another way.
I didn't realize how expensive it could get!

    Thanks, Kurt..
I did contact him. That's why I might need to find another way of
doing whatever i need done. I find myself with a hobbyist's budget
in a forum full of people who can buy programs for $5k to run all
sorts of equipment I can only dream about... I'm just a bit out of my
league here. Reasonable is relative. Brady got right back to me, I
just didn't know what to expect.
