Laser cut felt smell

I have a customer who can't get the smell out of some 100% wool felt I cut for her. Does anyone have any suggestions?

When you laser wool, you are burning (animal) hair. Even a little burnt hair smells pretty bad to many people. Not sure how long the smell will last or how sensitive your customer's nose is, but you could try putting it out in breezy sunshine for a day or two, maybe tumble in warm dryer for half an hour with something like Downy fabric softener sheets, or perhaps give it a spray with something like Febreze?

I've cut some magnets out of organic felt and the smell is indeed horrible. I found leaving them to air out for a few days left them almost smell free, if that's not doing the trick your fairly short on options. The only other ideas I can think of are washing it, spraying it with something nicer smelling, or using synthetic felt.

I just cut 8000 felt pieces yesterday and the smell was unbelievable. I boxed them up and put them outside ,and I just brought them back in the garage this morning and the smell is mostly gone ( slight hint ). I just can't believe a post came up like this after my experience yesterday,lol.

Give it a quick run in the dryer (doesn't have to be high heat, just air flow) with a dryer sheet... should perk it right up.

Good thinking Steve! When in doubt go to the pros, that would be the cleaners.
