    Drum sander what kind to buy

    I.ve been looking the Grizzly for a long time "G1079 16in and the G1066R 24in.I,m new to this sight and have been lerking for about two weeks .I havent seen any one talk about the Griz but the performax has had some postings any input on any drum sanders would be great.

    Welcome to SMC. I know it seems like a big jump in price, but the Grizzly 1066Z with varible speed will be much more useful to you. With a drum sander, the only three controls you have are paper grit, depth of "cut" and material speed. I think if you eliminate one of the three you are limiting the quality and usefulness of the machine. I have seen but not used the grizzly 24", it is a very big machine and I am thinking about pruchasing one myself.
