Informed today of my son dying of cancer

I have four sons and two daughters. My second oldest son is gay and is HIV positive. I was informed today (by his partner) that he has two different types of cancer (both agressive and inoperatable), has Hepatisis B, and also HIV induced dimentia.
His doctors have said that his prognosis at best is a few days. He would turn 49 in February.

Although I do not agree with his life style, he is still my son and I still love him, and it really hurts to lose one of my children. Your prayers are appreciated.
As my grandfather once told me, "Think, and I am sure you will find a harder way to do it!"

We lost our youngest son 7 years ago, although the circumstances were different. He took his own life.
But still, parents aren't supposed to bury their children, and it hurts terribly.
You, and he, have our prayers. It's OK to cry for him.

I'm very sorry to hear of your son's illness. I wish both you and him peace.

It's not something you will ever recover from but you can go on with life. You have my deepest condolences.

    Tom,

My sincere sympathy for your son and you. I have said hundreds of times...you may not like what your child is doing but you can never stop loving them. I can't imagine anything more difficult than your situation. Your son and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

    Tom,
It was about this time of year 3 years ago when we found out my daughter was dying.
My daughter and I had a rift between us that had seperated us for many years, and hadn't spoken to each other in all that time.
    She passed away in January.

We had some time we spent together in her last months.
I'm glad we had that time together.
We both just followed our hearts as to how to treat the past and what had seperated us & it was never spoken of by either of us.

I wish I could offfer you some profound advice, other than to wish you peace in what is one of the most painful things a parent can face.
All involved are in my prayers.

    Tom,
I'm sorry to hear of your son's illness. Your family is in my prayers.
I was sad because I had no shoes,
Then I saw a man who had no feet
