Tom... I have a hard time even comprehending the amount of pain you must be in. I am so sorry to hear of this. Prayers sent.

Tim passed away early last evening. I thank all of you for your kind thoughts.
As my grandfather once told me, "Think, and I am sure you will find a harder way to do it!"

Several years ago I requested prayer for a loved one. What my pastor told me has stuck with me.
He told me "you need the prayers and I need the practice". Well its time to practice...
God Bless you and your family, you're in my prayers...
The last time I saw the light at the end of the tunnel it was another train heading at me...

My thoughts are with you, your son, your family and his partner.

... he is still my son and I still love him
Tell him this every remaining chance you can so he will know.

My grandparents are strict catholic, and they have a son (my uncle) who is gay, and has had HIV for 20+ years. I am sure they feel as you do, and even though it took a long time for them to learn to deal with his life choices, in the end they never let him doubt that they loved him only as parents can love their kids.

I am very sorry to hear of you loss my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family .I lost my father 12 years ago and I found the following passage which was read at his funeral helpful

    All Is Well

All Is Well - Henry Scott Holland - A Popular Funeral Reading

    Death Is Nothing At All

    Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away into the next room,
I am I, and you are you,
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still,
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the same easy way which you always did,
    Put no difference into your tone;
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect, without the shadow of a ghost on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity,
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am just waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
    All is well.

    Henry Scott Holland
    Death Is Nothing At All

    All is well

    regards Brian
