Thanks for your thoughts. No fataliities or significant injuries this time. Just happened to be IM'ing with someone in Christchurch at the time, and there's a lot of fear and feeling that people are at emotional breaking point. The geonet stats show that after shocks are happening once or more per hour. The liquefaction is a huge problem (the ground turns to silt and water) again and has occurred in areas not seen before. This will mean whole new areas will be red stickered (the government buys the property out and they are not allowed to rebuild on the area). The worst part is that people were getting ready to forget the tumultuous past year, and this strikes.
