I too dropped to the right side of my saw. It's really not a problem for me as its still far enough away to rip plywood, but don't crosscut anything that long that would interfere.

Mine is very similar to the third pic in Jim O'Dell post above. The rightmost drop in this pic is the left side of the saw (pic taken from behind saw)

My TS run is embedded in the concrete pour. I can swing a cat & not hit any pipes or cords. Admittedly it's a rather inflexible arrangement.

I had to be able to use the garage as a garage sometimes, so I designed my tablesaw/router workstation drop to pivot up and out of the way when not in use. The picture is older. It has a blast gate installed now. Hope this helps
