    newbe electrcal supply question

hello again, after much looking about i have placed an order for a Trotec Rayjet. It will be used in the second bedroom in my flat. Now ive had a read through the user manual and it recommends a 16a fuse and its own supply from the fusebox. I was just going to run it on the ring main on a 13a fuse. This will be ok right? the unit does only draw 3.3a so i see no problems. Also im going to get a surge protector, are there any specfic ones you would recommend?

thanks agan for all your help

    What power laser?

My 60W peaks at about 1.4kW and averages about 800W - perfectly OK on a ring main from safety point of view.

The power draw is "lumpy" - peak power is drawn as the carriage is accelerating and the laser just starts to fire.
It is enough to make the lights flicker in my workshop - which is 50m away from the mains input to the house.
(I did not have flickering lights when I ran the laser in the garage adjoining the house).
