Best Wishes to all and a question

I hope everyone is having a great holiday and that all are safe and well.

Would someone kindly enlighten me on a couple of posts that I read? There was some reference to membership or donations or someting like that .....oh yeah...saving SMC or keeping it up and running or something. Did I miss some big event or what?

    Thanks for your input.

Mark, if you see this thread, you'll see what we were up against:

    http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=24965

Now, if you check out this thread, this is what the membership did in response:

FWIW, the members did a kick-butt job to keep this place from disappearing BUT, it will continue to be an ongoing effort! (Hint, hint )
    Cheers,

Mark.....a couple of months ago Hampton Roads Online...the company owned by Keith and Jackie succombed to increased big business competition. HRO was an isp and hosted SMC. Keith was making arrangements to have another company host SMC. John Bailey started a "contribution" thread to support continuance of SMC and leave it in the hands of the owner and originator Keith and Jackie Outten. So, members started contributing and the result was that enough moneys were contributed that Keith was able to move the equipment into his shop from HRO, install a high speed internet connection and the Creek is still flowing! You'll notice that "2005 Contributor" label under the names of those people that contributed. The asking contribution was for $5.00 per member IIRC. Some people gave more than that. The result was that SMC continues in it's previous format, the equipment is now located in Keith's shop and enough funds were collected to keep the water in the Creek for a couple of years.

Ok, taken care of. Sorry for not knowing sooner. Thanks again for letting me know.

One more question if I may? Do we do this yearly, monthly when we fell like it or what?

Mark, it's "whenever you feel like", but many folks have expressed that they will do an annual contribution at a particular time.

Got it. thanks. I'm sure I'll get reminders from the posts. Me trying to remember on my own would be a bad idea.
