Figured Maple, Corner drawer unit for Den

I haven't posted in a while but finally got to working on larger scale projects that are furniture and not tool rehab / shop / storage stuff. This is my first larger scale piece of furniture. This is unit one of six more pieces that need to be made. Figured why not start with the most complicated. In any case this is in our den that has just had new floors and paint. the shelving unit in the picture will be replaced with matching shelves to the corner unit.

I'm a mixed power tool / hand tool worker, using the table saw for ripping to rough dimension and dado's and then hand tools for pretty much everything else. Definitely not perfect, many small flaws here and there and still needs a little drawer slide tuning and two mounting blocks on the top for attaching the shelving units that will be next to it on either side.

Drawer boxes: Poplar 3/4 , hand cut dovetails, 1/4" BB ply drawer bottoms.
    Drawer Fronts: Figured maple 3/4
    Unit Top: Figured maple 3/4
Unit Face Frame: plain maple 3/4
    Main box: 3/4" ply
Drawer pulls: Shop made Black walnut

Finish: hand rubbed Superblond and garnet Shellac.

    Design Features:
    • pull-out shelf for holding papers and books.
    • recessed base drawer for additional storage and room for toe kick.
    • 75lb full extension drawer slides.

I'll post more as I get more units finished up.

    Randy...
