    Monday on Tuesday, echo

Made a bit more progress on the art deco dresser project this past weekend. Carcase is all glued up, and corners radiused. Starting to look like it may be what is was supposed to be. Below is a quick look at the overall carcase with the drawer boxes inserted.

    More progress

Here's a look at the end panel. Oh, the drawers had three coats of shellac applied over the weekend, but pics don't reall show that time spent.

    And a bit more

This gives a partial impression of the top design. The walnut is veniered to 3/4 poplar panel some thirty years old. Seems to be stable by now. No, its not scratched, just some dust and wipe marks. Panel had six, or maybe seven rub coats of shellac before assembly. Panel is captures in splines in the top frame, no glue between the two for stablilty.

The corners were a devil, 3/4 radius round over in three axes. Lot of router work, then hand shape the transitions so it flows every way.
