Mona Lisa Plate- opinions needed

I put the gilding on the Mona Lisa today. My original plan was not to color the burning, and have the colors of the painting reflected in the silver leaf. I changed that plan and added color to the burning. Now I think it might be to much color. I am thinking of changing to a cooper leaf with a bronze type patina. Once the patina dries and the stink goes away, I can get a better picture.

What do you think would look best?

Blue is my favorite color, but I think you are right. There may be too much. Take the picture to photo shop and try changes to tones to more reds and browns. Hope to see it at Mondays Illiana Woodturners Meeting.

Thanks guys. The rim does have some reds in it too that you can't see in the picture. I kind of agree with Dennis though about it being distracting. Bob, it will be there monday. I think I will do a test board tomorrow to see how the bronze color would look. It is easy enough to change. just need to mask it off and apply the copper.

I like it Jeff. Beautiful piece. I do like the color but still on the fence on the rim.

I like it as it is Jeff, not to say it wouldn't look as good or better with the gold leaf, but I like the blue and whatever you decide to do, you've definitely got a winner there!

Mona Lisa's new frame. I decided to go with copper and a sodium sulfide patina. I like this a lot better than the silver. The colors are a little off in the picture, but the patina reflects the sepia tones in the burning, and picks up some of the colors. The gloss will be rubbed out to a satin finish once the lacquer is cured.

The silver is still there. I just sealed it with lacquer and gilded over the top of it. I will have it there tonight, but the back is not done yet. I was going to do it today, but my lathe is in the back of my truck
