    latest turning...

I have a good supply of ambrosia maple and have been roughing a lot out. I finally got a little free time to finish turn and this is the results. It is 11 1/2" wide and right at 6" tall. I was inspired by Michael Gibson after a visit to him and his wife. He had a LARGE maple bowl he had turned some time back in his personal collection. This was twice turned, first was about 3-4 months ago, and finished turned on the 4th of July. It has been so hot I framed a 12' x 16' room in my shop and put a window unit in it. It stays nice enough to turn in during the brutal heat. The bowl is Ambrosia Maple and is finished with walnut oil. Comments are welcome, good or bad. Thanks Russell

Very nice looking bowl and the wood is beautiful. A bowl blank that size in ambrosia maple will cost me $30 to $40. I wish I had a supply!

Very nice bowl. I especially like the rim treatment, Russell. I also like the beaded utility bowls Mike turns green. He is a wizard the way he can turn those beads so effortlessly.

I doubt I have ever seen ambrosia this heavily marked..wow that would look good on a shelf or table.

Great looking bowl, Russell! I have a piece of ambrosia maple John Keeton gave me - I may have to mount that up and see if I an keep up with you.
