Private Message Help

I can't seem to send a private message, I can type in the recipients name and the subject but the message area is grayed out. Also, can't you create a buddy list and send to everyone on the list??

I don't know if this is related, but I was having trouble with sending a private message on Tuesday (took me three tries). It looked like it kept loosing my ID and Password, which would then not allow me to send a private message.

I finally changed to a different browser (Mozilla Firefox (it's free)) from my normal MS Explorer and everything worked fine ????

I've had no problem sending and receiving PMs via IE6.
