    Confounding Contraption

aka bobbin winder. Base is walnut and the uprights are antiqued maple. The motor was reclaimed from an old sewing machine. The pulley was turned, press fit and re-turned. Shaft was filed to a bevel to hold the bobbin and rides in two pressed in bushings.

The pulley actually self centers pretty well, its just off center in the one picture from me man handling it for the pictures

Nice Ryan. Will it get any use, or is it a novelty object? Nice flourishes on the base and clocked screws to boot!
    Thanks for sharing.

Definitely for use, loml was looking for an easier way to store yarn off of her spinning wheel. You can get really cheap plastic bobbins (they're about 4-5' long and hold a good hunk of yarn) so this will allow her to unwind from the more expensive spinning wheel bobbins to these for storage before she plys it together or whatever.
