    Are there any harmonica kits out there?

    Hey guys, I wanted to make my friend a nice harmonica as a gift, but can't seem to find any kits. Anyone have experience with this?

    Never seen any (and I own LOTS of harmonicas). You could take a manufactured harmonica and canabalize the reed plates and comb (you could make your own comb too I guess) and fit covers of your own design to them.

    You can buy reed plates (they're sold as replacement), but frankly they're almost as expensive as the harmonica they're for in most cases.
