Using some curly walnut as a top on a keepsake box. Should you use the curly waves horizontally or the grain? The top is 7" wide by 6" deep.

Really? 111 views and not one comment?
No pic on my screen!
I generally run the grain in the long dimension direction for stability. The curl will look good either way.

I agree with Lee, I run the grain on the long dimension for the same reason.
Thank you for the replies. I was going to go the other direction but agree about the stability. Pics of all the boxes I am making for Christmas presents will be posted when completed.
Just as a teaser, here is one that is completely finished.

It is made of walnut, bloodwood, cherry and holly.
Wow, this is a gorgeous box. Wonderful selection of woods.

JUst our of curiosity, how is the lid made? Is there a substrate behind the pieces?

Looks like thicker wood for the inlay. Aren't you worried about wood expansion next summer blowing the miters apart? How thick is the inlay?
Inlay is 1/4". There is a little "wiggle room". The roundovers allow you to hide it.
