    Good looking box. I've done box joints proud of the ends but hadn't thought about treating dowels that way. Nice job. Great figure int the lid.

    I think the most interesting part is that it is all walnut. The sides are walnut sapwood that came out of the same board as the figured top.

    Nice looking project. Can you add a picture from the back and one with the lid open?

    Here is a view with the lid open. I dont have one from the back. The bottom is lined with a dark brown felt.

    Thanks. I'm curious if there is a rabbit cut in the top of the back and/or the bottom of the lid? Is the lid hinged on a dowel or is that a brass fitting of some type?

    It is a dowel. I routed a roundover on the back edge of the top. It allows the lid to stop at just past 90 degrees.
