I'd like to here from folks with machines similar to mine, benchtop, 2 HP spindle type machines. I'd like to know what your maximum feed rates would be to create a pocket tool path with 2" high letters, .250" deep pocket. Pocket is 20" x 8". I'm only interested in the Clearing Toolpath (I'm assuming you have VCarve Pro or Aspire). As an example the words are "Charlie Brown" with the following:
.75" Red Oak
.250" 1 flute Carbide flat bottom end mill
.125" pass depth.
.005 Chip Load (avg for red oak)
I'm looking for the maximum rate your machine can effectively cut without diminishing cut quality, or going beyond the capabilities of the machine.
My max is around 75 IPM which brings my RPM down to about 13000. I was trying 150 IPM at 18000 RPM and it would skip pulses in Y and screw up the job.
