    Blanket Box/Dresser

Just finished this - it's cherry with aromatic cedar lining in the blanket box and the drawer bottoms. This is the first project I've done with dovetails that were cut without Lee Valley training wheels.

    Comment/suggestions welcome!

    Cheers

Great looking project. I especially like the top! I've never seen the combination of Chest and Dresser. Where did you come up with a plan?

Beautiful! I hope you can share construction photos, in particular the post&panel drawer guide details.

The hope chest and dresser combination is something I have never seen before. Now the gears are turning in my head on how to take that idea and combine a toy box and a taller dresser.

Yes I was lucky to find two lovely bookmatched boards locally. When I was planing, I came across what I thought would mess up my jointer, but it turned out to be a lead bullet! I decided to leave it in - it kinda adds interest

The wood is African Blackwood - very dense and oily.

The plan just came from adding up all my design requirements. Need a place for guests to put their bags, need drawers for guests to put their, well, drawers, and my prolific quilter wife needs a place to store quilts and pillows. I designed it in sketchup.

    Thanks!

Love the top. Not sure I could have brought myself to have made the cross-cut required for the lid.
