    Dining room table

Just finished this table for myself. Its made of Sapele and stained birch legs and apron to match the chairs that were existing. Table is 42x96. Top is almost 2 inches thick. Im hoping it darkens up to match the Honduran Buffet it sits alongside. The wood was much darker before planed so I think it will.

Very beautiful in its apparent simplicity.

I would love to build myself such an table.
The way the legs fit to the rest of the table is a mystery to my tho.
Do you maybe have a rough sketch or drawing that you are willing to share?

    Good job.

That looks great! I love the Sapele, and the dark legs compliment it perfectly.

Hi Josef, I built the top and cut out the corners 1/4 inch larger so there was that gap on both sides of the leg that touches the tabletop. Then took measurements for the apron and legs from that. Then for the frame I took 4 legs and 4 aprons connected them all together then the top sits on top of the apron and the legs pop through the cut outs. Then each corner and apron I used a hefty corner brace to tie together the leg and aprons one each side of one leg, it gave it rigidity. The I connected the top to the base with what we call here figure eights to allow for any wood movement.

    Thanks for the compliment.

I love it! Great treatment of contrasting woods and the way the legs go right to the top surface. Good job!

I like the contemporary design and the contrasting colors. What was your finish schedule?
