I'm new here, Mr Becker gave me a tip about the forum and I like the setup. I have been turning for 9yrs but lately I've cleaned off my tablesaw and have a desire to do some flat stuff but my passion is still turning.

I thought the transition to turning was a one way street??? Never seen any of these folks make the transition from flat boards to turning and then come back.....

While it can be difficult, sometimes SWMBO wants things that are not round...like a new kitchen or bedroom or dining room, etc. You just have to justify things in creative ways sometimes.

I'll admit that turning is a true addiction for me, but I also have a passion for furniture making. Part of the solution is to combine both, such as a chair project...which is about the only way I'll ever force myself to make a whole bunch of thin spindles!

Dave holds up hand. I put the lathe away about a year and a half ago, haven't turned anything since.

Thanks for the welcome. The reason for the partial change over is due somewhat to health reasons, two carpel tunnel surgerys a few years ago and I'm still out of work due to shoulder surgery two weeks ago. I think flat work is a bit easier on my body. Plus I like building things for the house and 99% of my turnings are sold at shows. Thanks once again.
