    Bottle Bottle Stoppers

I turned these bottle stoppers for friends for gifts. They are in order of how I turned them going left to right.
The 1st one is sycamore. I was using a mandrel and thought the base of the mandrel matched the size of the top of the stopper. After turning it and putting it on the stopper I saw that my assumption was wrong. I should have put it back on the lathe and turned it down but I had already glued in the cork and thought if i turned it down the cork would be out of proportion.
The 2nd one is in purple heart.
The 3rd one I thought I would make it look like the bottle was half full using Holly for the top. It is also purpleheart.
The 4th is holly and purple heart.
The 5th is holly and padauk.
I got the corks from Lowes in a drawer in the hardware aisle.
    Hope you like them.

I like them, too. It is a wonderful concept. I like the half-filled one most. Maybe some yellowheart for white wine, pink ivory for blush wines.....Green bottles might be the challenge if not for dyes.

Okay, that is TOO funny. Gotta love 'em...

I have to say, though...rather than corks, maybe next time turn little bottle bottle botttle stoppers to fit inside the tops of the wooden bottles!
    I drink, therefore I am.
