    Big Fat Acacia - Done

Came home tonight and finished the hollowing. By then it was getting late, but I decided to go ahead and try to get it all finished.
I added a ring around the top, burned some spirals for texture and then used the vinegar solution to ebonize it. The acacia ebonized very easily, probably because it was still green, and I'm much happier with the dark rim than I thought I would be. It really came together when I applied some danish oil.
It's about 6" x 6 1/2" with a coat of danish oil and topped off with some danish oil.

Kathy i like what ya did to the rim, and that acacia is always sharp. O the form is great also. Really like these full body pieces.

  4. This is nice work........very nice detail in the spirals you burned.........gotta love the wood.......a lot of character in the grain. Very nicely done, Kathy!

    Thanks everyone!

I'm very happy with how it turned out and with the spiral tip I made. I've got some ideas for other tip shapes, so we'll see how those turn out on future pieces.
