Thread: I picked up a few bandsaws..

I picked up a few bandsaws..

I relocated last year for a great new job. Part of the move included a much larger shop, with 3 phase power. I bought this guy right before I moved.

I found this guy shortly after I got here and couldn't pass it up.

Then last Sunday my buddy called and told me about this one. I've always wanted one. The thought is I can restore it and use it for whatever resawing I decide to do. It is all there. 220v 1.5 HP motor. Two of the covers are a little tweaked. I think they will straighten fine.

The Delta got me looking a little further out on CL. That led to me driving 300 miles round trip to pick this guy up. It's a Lockformer Bett-Marr 14SM metal cutting bandsaw. It is extremely heavy. The main casting is incredible. In good working condition.

While I was driving home I got a call about another bandsaw I had inquired on. We struck a deal and I left on another 300 mile round trip to pick up this guy. It is in excellent condition with very little use. I'm off to get it unloaded now.

Steven, do you like bandsaws? I particularly like that big old Delta and that HD Powermatic. Great machines.

I'm unsure if you have a problem or a solution. Either way you're getting a nice collection of saws there.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Nice score on the last Powermatic! The machine shop I served my apprenticeship in had the same model. The blade welder is nice, now you can buy blade stock by the roll. And save a lot on blades.

Steve, Very cool saws. Are you collecting? Reselling? Do you plan on using them all?

    It's like collecting anvils.

This makes the Beanie Baby and Precious Moments hoarders look reasonable.
300 miles for a fifth bandsaw? Wowsers.

Better than a crack addiction. LOL. It would be pretty cool to clean them all up & restore them to their original luster.

    Jim,

I'm in Central Washington. I got the saw in tri-cities. Loaded and unloaded with forklift.
