I wanted to build a step stool for my 2 yo nephew for Christmas this past year and found a plan online for this one that converts from a child's chair to a step stool easily, thinking he could pull double duty with it. I'm pretty new to woodworking and knew I'd make a lot of mistakes, so I built it out of pine so my mistakes wouldn't cost me too much if I had to rework a part. He loves it and uses it all the time. If I had it to do over with my newfound confidence, I'd have made it out of something harder but its held up well over the past 3 months.
