    Pedestal Basket

Looking through a book recommended by Jim Adkins as a source of inspiration, I saw some pictures of pedestal baskets, a style I hadn't seen before and I had to give one a try. This is my attempt at copying a basket originally done by Lucy Telles in 1910. A big thanks to Jim Adkins for his help and advice. Hard maple, 11" by 6". C & C welcomed.

Richard, I had to look 3-4 times to see if it was in fact a piece of wood. Still can't really tell.... Beautiful job, especially at both rims..... Jerry (in Tucson)

Seriously. Is that a turning with carvings or is it woven?

that's a wonderful piece Richard. That whole "had to give on a try"...sheesh...some people just have natural talent. I'd have to try a dozen of these before they came out that well, if then!

  12. Wow Richard, that's a real mindblower, great detail and exquisite craftsmanship, very striking, most times when I'm browsing I see things I would like to try, but this seems impossible to me, very, very nice.
