Great weekend of training, thanks Josh Stephens I learned a lot. Thanks Steve Shepherd for taking that long ride. This machine is a beast.

Yes, it is a beast! Great to spend some time with Brian, his son, and Josh as well. Brian didn't just make a little move, he made a big move. Switched brands, got a new computer, got X6 (from X4), put a network switch in to get all his computers networked, and probably a few more new things. So he's got a lot going on, a lot to try and understand and figure out all at one time. It was my first look at X6 and I must say, they've made some changes that made it tough for me to figure out a number of things.

I thought all the way home about how overwhelming it has to be to get shown every available option and it's use on a machine, all crammed into a day or so. I suspect the retention is probably fairly low. Just too much information, too quick. I think about how long it's taken me to learn my machine, and how far Brian is already and he's already got a massive head start on where I started.

That 100 watts is slick. One issue with lower watt tubes on the Trotec is that the machine is so fast, you can't always run it at 100 speed. Some times 100S and 100P won't break the cap sheet on plastics. With the 100 watts, that's not an issue. You can run at 100S,100P. Man, with those settings, that machine will make you a pile of work. Brian ran one repeat job he has. Time on the Universal was 36 minutes (if I recall correctly). Time on the Trotec was about 10 minutes. That's just stunning to me. Talk about paying for itself quickly.....

Josh ran some tests and was running 3 pt fonts, upper and lower case, at 100% speed. It was razor sharp. Very nice!

I know it's going to take some time to get tuned in and all your materials set, but I think you'll be really happy with it the longer you use it.

Had fun- just not enough time!

Ok now what was the power of the Universal that took 36 minutes? that will help us see how nice the jump is.

Craig, I think it's a 60W vs. a 100W, but the raster speed was the real benefit on that job. If I recall correctly, the speed on the Trotec was 100 and the power was around 70%, so power wise, it'd be close to the Universal.

It all has to do with servo motors or stepper motors, my 30 watt GCC laser with servo motors is faster doing raster work than my 50 watt universal with stepper motors, both running at 100% speed, but my 50 watt laser cuts faster than my 30 watt laser.
