Thread: Walker-Turner RAS Craigslist Gloat

    Walker-Turner RAS Craigslist Gloat

So I like old machines, just something about the heft and style of all that cast iron.

I saw an older Walker-Turner 1100 Radial Arm Saw (with table & Blade) on CL... and it rode home with me.

    So Gloat or no Gloat?

Was it in that condition when you bought it? Even if not, real nice machine. If thats the purchase condition what a steal deal.. Like I say, nice either way.

Aw, I feel really bad for you as that is a real piece of junk. BTW, I run a junk removal service, so I'll be more than happy to help remove it from your shop, along with any other "junk" that's in the way.... I got a "junky" one like yours, mine's a Rockwell Delta 40-C, ca. 1958, in similar condition, and these babies are a pleasure to use, never mind that truly exciting sense of what a SCORE!

But you're not off the hook. We want details, and pix after you get her all set up. The mob is standing by.

Do I spy a linear bearing holding guiding the entire upper arm?

That's built for some very precise work (for a RAS).
What kind of shop used it?

    It's pretty minty...

Stripped, primed, and painted all the castings.
Wire brushed and waxed all of the nuts and bolts.
New bearings in the ram, the motor, and the transmission.
    New power cord
    New Table
New 12" Freud Blade, guard & kickback pawls.

Looks fantastic, remember the rule of the RAS though, to protect yourself from an attack, one hand on the handle and the other in your back pocket. LOL An excellent score, congratulations.

    Wow,

Never seen one before. Is it 3 phase? How old is it?

I don't like RAS. Wouldn't have one. Only way I'd have one is if someone gave one to me. Want to give me yours?

It's ground ways that ride on 8 sealed bearings like this:

It's used in my little hobby shop... so it's WAY overkill.
