    Walnut coffee table

I just completed this walnut coffee table. I've gotten three tables out of this slab. The slab was 2.5" thick, resawed and book matched. The live edge at the top flares out to a point, and I just couldn't figure out how to soften it without removing the figure at the end. In the end, for me, it was the best part of the table, and therefore, I left it sharp. It's a hazard, but has worked out ok for now.

    Finished with Waterlox OSF.

    Prashun,
I think it looks great! The stretcher design is very nice and adds to the natural shape of the top.
As for the sharp corners, look on it as an opportunity for whoever hits it to stop and admire the figure!

I really dig the leg and stretcher design with this slab table.

    Prashun,
I really like the aesthetic of the table. I can't really find fault with the sharpness of the edges as you described as long as you eased them just a bit so they don't get dinged or chip to easily. The stretcher shap reminds me of some of Sam Maloof's work which is an inspiration to me. Are you at all concerned with the direction the grain runs in the stretchers on the short end of the table, it appears to run perpendicular to the long axis of the stretchers.

It wont receive that much stress, so i picked whimsy over strength. Those parts are laminated from smaaller blocks.

Excellent work, the proportions look good,I think the pointy ends are a nice contrast to the base.
If I might suggest a detail you may find nice is flatting the top after the sides have been shaped. And leave the hard line along the edge. The quarter sawn table tops are my favorite. Thanks for sharing your work.

Beautiful design and work, Prashun. Love the flowing lines of the stretchers and the bookmatch top is really well done.

The woodworking world is better with more whimsy,
so long as it's not flimsy.

I can't believe you managed to do all this with little kids in the house.

Absolutely extraordinary! Your base really gives the table a balance of beauty to discover. It's important that no one part take away your attention from the details of the rest of the project. This in perfect, well done my friend.
