    lacquer finish

Does anyone use a lacquer finish?...I have been using Defth, gloss, apply several coats, sanding between coats, but don't think I like the finish...should it be thinned down maybe with mineral spirits to help absorbtion?..Dennis Taylor

You cannot thin lacquer with MS...only with lacquer thinner. Try the spray can version to see if you like it better. But be careful with any solvent-based lacquer and only apply it with proper ventilation and personal protection. (mask with organic filters)

Dennis, I have recently found Watco spray laquer at Menards. I really like it. It is clear and goes on very smoothly. It is also available in cans.

I thin with Laquer Thinner. I generally apply lacquer to turned objects with a rag or paper towel; goes on thin, dries fast, buffs up nice.

I use Deft all the time-- I thin it with lacquer thinner and spray it on. I like it as it shines nice and is a durable finish.
