    Backyard mechanics-coil spring insulator substitute??

Replacing front coil springs on a 1990 Ford Ranger, standard cab, 2w, 2.3L.

The coil spring insulators are pretty old and I'm looking to replace them.

No store or dealer has them in stock. I need to have this completed by Saturday. One local mechanic said, "No, sweat, take a piece of radiator hose and cut it to shape."

    Your thoughts...

Too bad you don't have time to order--$13 each from LMC. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fr/full.aspx?Page=112

A wrecking yard or shop that deals in suspension, specifically for off-roading would probably have something. Otherwise if you have a commercial rubber supplier in your area you may find a suitable rubber or poly substitute.
