    Free Stuff

    John,

Here is the message I posted in the Support Forum a few days ago.
    ----------------------
    Free Stuff

SawMill Creek has only one sponsor and we are not interested in obtaining advertisers. We do however plan to be contacting every major woodworking manufacturer, distributor and retail sales company we can to let them know that we exist and ask for donations of tools and equipment that we can give away to our members.

The idea is to draw a name out of an electronic hat so to speak. Aaron has a program that will scan the member list here and select a name randonly. As we find organizations who will participate we will post the prize and conduct the drawing. We will give the company who donates the prize fair exposure by posting a new thread containing all of the details of their donation, a link to their web site and hopefully a picture of the winner with their new toy.

I have not made any contacts as yet but I believe this could be one of the best promotional methods any company could wish for and I hope it will be successful. If this works out it will certainly be lots of fun and obvoiusly rewarding for the winners. No money will change hands so this is not a commercial venture, prizes will be shipped directly to the winner and it will simply promote good will between woodworkers and manufacturers. We will need lots of members to attract the big guns and large prizes but we will get there in time.

If any of you have friends in the business that you think would be interested in helping us kick this program off please contact them and ask them to get in touch with us, I can only make so many phone calls a day by myself, lots of hands will make the task easier.

    Companies interested in our givaway program can send a letter signed by their representative and describe the donation in detail (make and model number or catalog number) to the following address;

    Attn: SawMill Creek
    Hampton Roads Online
    1213-H George Washinton Memorial Highway
    Yorktown Virginia, 23693

    -----------------------

In the future we will not put the winners name in the main title of the thread, so if you see the words "FreeStuff Winner" click to see if you won the prize. There may also be multiple winners, you never know

    We're Workin Hard!

I promised everyone at the Pond that I would make every effort to make our board the best it can be, we can't replace Badger Pond so we will just have to work hard and try a few new things that we think will make "The Creek" a very special place.

We have lots of ideas, next up we will try to put something together to coordinate bulk buys of tools and equipment from the manufacturers. This won't be as frequent as the "FreeStuff" program but it will give everyone the opportunity to save some bucks. Maybe we"ll call it our "Saw Bucks" program As our membership grows so will our clout and bargaining power.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

I'll second or third or whatever the comments on McFeeley's screws. They have replaced almost all others in my shop, and the service has been excellent and fast.

Ken, spare the Sawmill! They are the ones giving stuff away. We gotta find a way to rig this thing so the others aren't registered.

    Hey Tom, bad news.

Now the weather reports are lowering the temps Thursday and Friday. They're showing a front coming thru with heavy rain for Thu and Fri. Oh well.
