    raspberry pi in the shop

I was looking for a computer in my shop and bought a raspberry pi starter kit on a lark for the shop.

I must say, it is working out great.

I had an extra monitor, and picked up a wireless keyboard/touchpad combo.

There are no fans, disk drives, etc, so no dust issues.

    Here is a fun site

    http://www.raspberrypi.org/

I use it for music and web browsing.

I just wanted to toss it out there for someone looking to have a little fun.

    Take care,
    Michael

Thats a good idea Micheal! Sounds like a great excuse to buy that "pi". Thanks for the suggestion.

Just for comparison, you may also want to look at the beagleboard black.

  4. Got one in the living room plugged into the HDMI on the telly and the network. I use XBMC and it picks up everything from the NAS drive and just works.

    Regards

I too am enjoying my Pi. I bought it to use as a dedicated Pandora server for music. The Pi doesn't handle 'flash' which Pandora requires, but I found the program 'pianobar' to run Pandora without 'flash'. After feeding it to the stereo amp and speakers of choice, I have internet music without the cost and bulk of a full-sized computer.
