    New gooseneck LED

I have good lighting from above, but nothing to see inside my vases. Does this look like it would fill the bill? An LED flashlight gives me enough light, so I assume this would be about the same amount of light.

    See any fatal flaws?

Look for this on Lowes.com it's a grill lite with a flexible shaft, clamp and magnet

Master Forge LED Clamp or Magnet Grill Light

    Works great for me.

Looks good, Rick. Does the flexible shaft hold its position?

Brian, I have had the same light that Rick mentioned for three years and I have never had a problem with it holding position.

I found that the Ikea goose neck suffered from the sags whenever the light was extended on the horizontal position. During the back to school sales at Kohl's sells a very sturdy goose neck light. It retails for $40, but was on sale 50% off plus 15% senior citizen discont. Bad thing is it is only sold when kids are going back to college. A great source of magnets are old hard drives. They already have a keeper attached and are quite strong. A little grinding off the ears and some super glue make them great.

Works great, stays where I put it. Flashlight detaches, which is handy. But the neck is only 8", shorter than the one at Lee Valley.

My concern would be the "3 batteries last up to 5 hours" spec. I use the Ikea cheap ones, that plug in, but I find that the flex neck does not hold its position well.

    Craft Supply sells these:

A bit spendy at $70 and the magnet could be stronger, but the light is excellent and it stays where I put it. I have two modified Ikea lights and one has the lens badly fogged and the gooseneck will not stay in place on either one.
