What would you do with these logs to create a decorative piece(s)

    Hi guys,

I will be married next year year, and the afters will be in a marquee. I would like to add some nice touch to it, such as table decorations or whatever really!

I have come across logs as in the below photo (not sure of wood type), and would like to make something out of these. But I am not sure of what to do with them!

    Any ideas welcome!!! Thanks

    Turned items...bowls, vases, hollow forms

    Keepsake boxes

    Bandsaw boxes

    Carved sculpture

What you make just depends on your tools and your talent.

For table decorations, if that's the wood I had to work with, I'd turn either candleholders or weedpots in which a flower could be placed. You could probably get several out of each piece (it's a bit hard to gauge size in the pic)

Is there some sentimental value to that wood?

Looks like Pine or ash to me and likely a roadside find (we've all done it)?

Either way, I like the suggestions above....

I would recommend making a rustic low bench with the above two pieces as thick chunky legs and a live edge or even 2x10 lumber piece as the top.

    Goog luck !
