I have a bench cat... it does not do much for me except to test the hardness of various finishing materials.

Dont know if it will work (picture). She use to love to burrow out depression in a pile of chips and snooze. I would often heap them up around her and she loved it. She has since moved to the shop couch in the office
That's a HUGE dog!!! And a really small head for its body size!
What a wonderful and loving set of pictures from all of you. My smiles and good feelings will last me the whole day
Mark, my shop cat does the same thing, he'll snooze at the lathe and get buried in shavings.........Rod.

Thanks guys.. She really use to love snoozing in the chips but at that time there was no couch in the office!! The instant that hit she rarely hangs out in then shop anymore other than for a brief pass through. She's a comfort creature for sure.
Again, she would just make a depression in the pile, i always heaped the chips around her like a blanket. She would sleep there for a while (or until the planer fired up) and then move on to some other soft spot.
I've often though of a shop cat to help with mice but never made the leap.

Here is one of my helpers. Down on hands and knees in the finish area cleaning up a mess that she made. About a quart of stain that spilled all over. This was five years ago and she is now married, so no more helping out.
Their entertaining. Help? That's questionable .
