You, sir, are a genius! I used cheap duct tape (go for the good stuff), and it eventually fell off.

010.JPG005.JPG006.JPG007.JPG008.JPG009.JPGI had planned on doing the sealing this weekend, but my wife and I ended up driving 300 miles round trip to pick up a 1924 Oliver 144 jointer. It weighs appx 700 lbs and we had to take it apart to get it out of the woman's basement. It was her grandfathers and spent its entire life sitting in the same spot in the same house. So I spent the weekend futzing with my new toy.

I just moved into a new building and really just moved what I had from the old into the new. I only have about 25' of run total attached to a Woodsucker. I used HVAC duct from Home Depot and it worked well enough. This thread got me to thinking about it so I decided to replace the elbows with long radius elbows and the T's with Y's. I spent about $100 on two elbows and four y fittings.

    This is before.

This is what it looks like now.

Since this is also HVAC duct, the parts go together backwards so I had to do some metal working. I beat the crimps flat so I could insert the crimped end of the duct into what used to be the crimped end of the fitting.

    I have to reverse this.

I also had to do it for the blast gates.

It does pull a lot better without the severe corners it used to have.

    It is a 6" 3ph. I have a phase converter.

Geez, nice anvil too. Gotta get me one of those! A hundred bucks for 2 elbows and four wyes is pretty good pricing. Congrats. Where did you get them? Dennis, we are almost neighbors, I grew up in Waterford and graduated from Kettering. Edit: Oops, I see I am getting my Dennises mixed up one with an old Oliver, one with an anvil.

Here's a photo of the blast gates I made. With 6" PVC. 2 ¾" MDF on each side of the gate. Used ¼" MDF for the slide and the same but wrapped with aluminum tape for the spacer. Siliconed the 6" pipe nubs into the MDF.

I made a router template for the large hole. That was probably the hardest part.

Anvils come in handy all the time, I wish I had one of those 300 pounders!

I got the fittings on-line, the elbow's came from a website called Air Handler systems, here's the link:

In got the y's at sheetmetal kid because they were cheaper there.
