using a portable rollup tablet to trace parts and output *,dxf files

I wanted to show how easy it is to setup the draw routine and a rollup tablet.
The rollup can be configured 2 ways ,one just plug it in and the rollup provides the driver or down load the tablet driver routine and run it
This shows the built in driver ,somewhat easier to set up and this is all very portable ,and the end result is a *.dxf file and can be editted in aspire
whch i will be showing next
This rollup is 36x30 ,and they can be smaller

Looks great Stan. You are the digitizing MAN!

You ever digitize automatically with a ruby tipped cnc probe and software?
Glad its my shop I am responsible for - I only have to make me happy.

thats true but the cnc machine can end up running as long to scan the part as cut it
When a cnc machine runs for over 1 hour i always feel one small error and its all garbage
I want to see something separate for 3D scanning of parts, possibly a cheap desktop cnc no spindle

What about the open source laser scanning projects or the ones that use an Xbox kinect? Green laser stuff. Tried any of that? Lots of stuff going on in the 3D printer circles about object scanning.

its true what you're saying ,about 2 years back i was all keen about getting into a scanner but all the sales stuff was very vague as the real ones that work are not for the little business
I'm not ready to let my cnc scan an object then cut it,i wanted a standalone machine but price wise and will it work is not there yet at what i am willing to pay
I could give manufacturers names but its not worth it ,give it time and we'll be scanning with good results like a flat bed scanner
