    Rebel Grass Seed

I am working on putting in a lawn. Northeast Tennessee. Last season I used Rebel Grass Seed--Southern Classic Mix--on a portion of the yard and it gave me GREAT results. I would like to continue with the same seed.

My problem...I can only find the seed in 40 pound bags at a big box store. There does not seem to be any way to locate a seed/feed store which handles the product in larger quantities....50 to 100 pound bags would be great for the area which I have to seed.

Anyone have any thoughts on the product and where to find it? I can't even determine if it comes in a bag bigger than 40 pounds. If I can determine that much, I might be able to get a local feed store or garden center to order it for me.

Thanks.....spring is coming guys. 50's today. 60's by the weekend.

I'm guessing you won't find it north of the mason dixon line anywhere!

(it looks like it's made by pennington. I'd call pennington and find out what's available.)

won't take in yankee soil, so don't try it!

it would help to know the specific cultivars in the bag. Many of these mixes vary even w/in the bags at the store so check the tags on it. There are several of the rebel variety including rebel III, rebel IV, rebel exeda and these can be mixed w/ other tall fescues like justice depending on the season/area/store. If you know the cultivars, it will be easier to track down at a farm seed and feed type store.

I think this may be your seed:
    http://www.turf.com/products/southern-classic/

If so, this is the MFG's contact us link:
    http://www.turf.com/contact/form.php

    Call Us Toll Free: 1-800-285-SEED

They should be able to tell you the cultivar's and percentage, how its packaged, and the distributor's near your zip code.

Just curious, what's wrong with 40 lb bags?
Looking for better pricing in bulk?

Thanks Jeff. Yes, that is the seed I am interested in. I probably need about 200-300 pounds, and it is costly. One of those 40 pound bags goes for $90 plus or minus. If I can find it in bigger bags, I am thinking it can save me a few dollars.

It really is a GREAT product...but costly.

I suspected you were seeking bulk pricing but was not sure. Hopefully they (turf.com) can provide it.
If not, if you can determine the main cultivar, or top two or three percentage wise, a good seed company may be able to blend it for you at a lower cost.

At 8 lbs./1,000 sq. ft. recommended for new lawns, you must have one honking huge lawn or a golf course .
Best wishes. I am glad I could direct you to the source.
