    Storing rolls of tape

This may seem like a silly question but I just cleaned out my workspace and I have many many many rolls of masking (and other) tape and I can't figure out a simple storage system that gets it out of the way and gives me easy access to the tape I want to use when I want to use it. Any suggestions?

Drill a bunch of 1/2 holes in a scrap piece of plywood at a shallow angle (3 degrees). Insert and glue in 6-9 inch long dowels. Paint/finish as desired. Hang on the wall and put the tape on the pegs.

I needed to store "stock" and those rolls that were in use. After pegs and dowels and all forms of catchers and organizers I ended up in a couple of drawers. Wider tapes are in the drawer below.

I have 8-10 rolls at any given time and store them on 6" long peg board hooks.

I have a drawer full and rolls "stratigically" placed (visualize-randomly scatered) around the shop. Kinda like the dowel concept. May have to give it a try.

I did this, it works very well, I mounted it behind the door in the corner where it is out of the way.

The problem w pegs for me is that the roll you want is always at the back. I put them in the 2 qt rectangular kitchen tupperwares. They hold 3-6 rolls each depending on the roll thickness. Another idea would be to get 5" or 6" PVC and split it down the middle and fasten it to the wall.

My solution is a old CD holder that I repurposed for tape rolls. I also have angled dowels on a board.....but the cassette holder is much easier to store, view and grab a roll when needed. Eventually I think I will build another like the old CD holder.

    Jim,
The CD holder looks like a winner. As you said, you can see the rolls of tape and take whichever one you want without moving all the others out of the way. Thanks for the suggestion!

Tape stored with an exposed side (where the roll was cut) will dry, and the adhesive will be compromised.

I keep tape in the factory supplied plastic cover, until it's used and thereafter in ziploc bags.
It also prevents me from picking up sawdust, when I drop a roll.

I stack them on a shelf. Works for me.
